I am the same problem. I arrived at this post because my new computer refused to let me in without creating a Microsoft account. Last year was the first series of giant problems I had, I work for multiple clients and found the work I was doing for one meant had addded their business office email address to my outlook which was a home office version, suddenly the licences were in conflict and i was having all kinds of problems because microsoft was making heirachy decisions about my laptop on my behalf. In the most recent version of Windows, now shipping with new computers, the screen has changed. Moving files and settings from one profile to another can be quite a chore. Their old PC has Windows 7 and their Office version is probably at the latest and they no longer have the discs or product key. Your Windows 8 machine must be able to connect to a domain controller.
