I had a lot of issues with my Bluetooth mouse as well but that was sorted by switching off the power option that allows the device to be switched off by Windows.
So now apart from the fact that I need to select the profile at every restart both my mice are working together like a charm and in fact I have never experienced such a fine performance from a trackpad apart from Apple. This comes really close and I would even in certain instances prefer it to an external mouse. HP has released a Synaptics driver package - it's the same driver version of what's released via WUP, but this one actually works.

I guess it is hardware dependent. The other one is no worse off though. I will however check to see if I can copy the control-panel across as I can't find it on my older Pavilion. Many thanks to zme-ul. The link worked for me.
